It’s National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and it is time to think pink. This month is a campaign that has been created and organized by charities and supporters of breast cancer awareness to promote and encourage the awareness of the disease. It has also been designed as a way to raise money for research. This can include researching causes, preventatives, diagnosing, treating, and curing the disease. In order to do our part here at Left Therapy, we wanted to be certain that we were filling you in on how you can be aware of the disease and also how you can help out. It does not matter who you are, you never know if you or someone you love will in some way be affected by breast cancer.
This infographic reveals some truths to serious myths about breast cancer in order to help educate. Some of the more interesting things that we learned:
- 12% of women in the United States will develop invasive breast cancer at some point in their life.
- 28% of the cancers in women are breast cancer.
- There is a myth circulating that wearing an underwire bra will increase the risk of breast cancer.
- Around 1,700 men are diagnosed with breast cancer each year.
